  • Tunis Suuqs or Souks: To get a unique Arabic feel, a visit to the Tunis Souks is compulsory. As you stroll along the souks, you will be enchanted by the beauty and exotic traditional and modern objects. You must bring back home something from these souks as a gift to your near and dear ones. You will get woven items from the Souk de la Laine, Souk des Chechias is for woolen caps, and Souk des Orfevres is famous for gold works.   • Mosques: Your visit to the Tunis will be incomplete without visiting its mosques. Zitouna Mosque, built in the 9th century by Emir Aghlabide Abou II Abbes Mohamed is the main mosque in Tunis and is open to the non-Muslims from 8’o’clock in the morning till the noon everyday except on Fridays and Islamic Holidays. You can also visit Sidi Yousef Mosque, a 17th century mosque with the distinction of having octagonal minarets.
  • Museums: Bardo Museum is the 18th century palace boasting of marvelous collection of statues, frescos, and Roman mosaics. The museum also display statues from Punic times discovered in Carthage, Dougga, El Jem, Sousse, Thubrubo Majus and Mahdia. At Dar Hussein Arab House you will find charming Islamic artifacts including some valuable manuscripts from Qur’an.
  • The Cathedral: Built in 1882 by a French person, The Cathedral is named after Vincent De Paul, who had come to Tunis as a slave. The Cathedral is notable for the tomb of an unknown soldier and the National Archaeological Museum which houses a collection of Roman artworks.
Places of Interest:
  • Bab el Khadra: Used as an entrance to the Medina, Bab el Khadra is one of the gates. The architecture is uniquely European, lending it the look of a European castle.
  • Place Halfaouine: It is famous for Youssef Sahib Mosque at Taba which as built in 1812. Marbles, columns and wrought iron railings used were completely Italian.
  • Bab Souika: The original town was destroyed in 1980’s fire which happened because of Islamic clashes. However, the newly designed of the area is more popular among Tunisians.
  • Bab-el-Bahr: Bab-el-Bahr means “Gate to the Sea”, is the entrance to the Medina and lies on the Avenue de France.
  • Café M Rabet: Get a feel of the Arabic world at Café M Rabet. You will get first hand experience of the Turkish night-out as you enjoy your food and drink inside the ethnic decor. With belly dancers dancing, live music, Turkish coffee and hookahs, you will cherish these moments for the rest of your life.
