Kerkennah Islands is a collection of islands in the Gulf of Gabes of Tunisia with main islands being Chergui and Gharbi. Located on the eastern coast of Tunisia, the main town of Kerkennah Islands is Remla. The Kerkennah Islands though is not much popular among tourists, still has many sandy beaches to explore and relax.
Chergui
Chergui lies off the north coast of Tunisia means Easterner in Arabic. Chergui which stretches 22 Km long and 10 Km wide is the largest of the Kerkennah Islands in Tunisia. The important town of Chergui is Remla.
El Attaia
El Attais is a fishing village in the Kerkennah Islands and the important attraction of the place is the port which is situated at the strait. The strait extends from the island of Gremdi to the northern parts of the village.
Gharbi
Gharbi is situated in the north coast off Tunisia. In Arabic, Gharbi means “Westerner.” It is the second largest island of the Kerkennah Islands and covers 14 Km by 6 Km area of the land. The main town of Gharbi is Mellita. |
