Located in the heart, Djerba Explore Park is a collection of some of the most famous sight-seeing of Djerba. Opened in 2003, it offers an outstanding Islamic arts museum, an eco museum to discover the local living conditions and a large pond of 400 enjoying crocodiles.
This park is just not only a tourist complex but also has a mixing cultural sections and animations like a theme park. Tourists can enjoy 3 different sections in this park-
The Lalla Hadria Museum: Explaining 13 centuries of Tunisian and Arab-Islamic world art, the Lalla Hadria Museum represents the richest display of handicrafts in Tunisia. Starting from calligraphy to ceramics, from jewels to miniature, the museum has 14 galleries consisting of 300 0 items showing a rich landscape of Tunisian and middle-eastern arts. In addition to these, the tourists can also find the artistic influences of the Persians, Ottomans, Berbers, Touaregs or Maghrebians worlds. Not just only this, last section is devoted to Tunisian archchitecture, ceramic and the traditional costume.
The Djerba Heritage site: This is a reconstruction of habitat and the local craftsmen trade. Featuring a number of fresh rooms in the traditional houses, each living house gives you a prehistoric stroke. In Djerbian Heritage Conservatory, the tourist can enjoy e pottery and can also attend the weaving workshops, as well as can experience ancient way of living.
The Crocodile Islands: Among all of these, The Crocodile Islands is the most popular tourist sight of the Djerba Explore Park. This crocodile farm (to be done) is the largest in the Mediterranean basin and has more than 400 creatures. These Nile River crocodiles can be measured up to 2.5 metres in length. Enjoying life in the big ponds, these crocodiles must be watched at the time of eating as at that time they move very speedily to catch the food and looks more frightening.
Apart from all these, Djerba Explore Park also consists of numerous restaurants, café and a hotel. In summers you can enjoy the nights by listening African music shows. The Park remains open daily from 9 am to 8 pm. |
